South Padre Island TX Golf Weekend
[This page still under construction.]
A U.S. couple who has travelled Mexico and the Caribbean extensively and now lives in Playa del Carmen recommends Wanna Wanna. 5100 Gulf Blvd., South Padre Island, Texas. Sometimes the best experiences can happen in your own back yard. The Wanna Wanna is not on some exotic stretch of sand somewhere in a faraway ocean. It is on a small island just a bridge crossing from the shore of the Texas mainland and only a short drive from Brownsville. South Padre Island is filled to overflowing during Spring Break when crazed college kids invade and again in the summer months when suburban families take over. However after Memorial Day the long beautiful beaches facing the Gulf of Mexico are deserted. As the shops unload the last of their swimwear and beach toys, you can find real peace and quiet down by the water. At Wanna Wanna you can sit on a gazebo like deck which is perched crows nest style out over a great beach beyond which the Gulf waters sparkle. Sit at the railing with your feet up, your chair tilted back and all your cares blown away by the wind. Drink a really good margarita and nibble some fried oysters as we did one warm fall day. When the bartender cranks up the stereo to play a little Buffett, you'll know where Margaritaville is...it's right there.
