Golfcourse.com Review: This is a long, links-style course. The fairways vary from tight to wide open, and the small greens are undulating. Lakes come into play on fourteen holes. The most difficult hole is #6, a 566-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway (lined by houses) while simultaneously clearing a lake and sand bunker, then an approach shot over water to the green. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 5th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. It was also selected 5th in the category of "Best New Affordable Courses" for 1996, and as the 2nd "Best in State" course for 1997-98.

Avg. Golfcourse.com Player Review: 4.0/5.0. Extremely mixed comments from "Worth the greens fee, tough course with the wind, links style done well..." to "...links courses are gay. Especially this one." Hey, it's friggin' South Dakota, what do they know about golf?

Best Bar Nearby: Per PGA winner and everyguy Rich Beem, you gotta hit Champps (605-331-4386). "My hangout. It's just a big ol' bar where a ton of people hang out. Really a fun, lively place." OR, Beemer also used to knock a few back at Nutty's Pub (605-362-0947). "A place to throw peanut shells on the floor. I'd hit Nutty's on Sunday nights 'cause I had Mondays off at the club." Rich spent some of his assistant pro days and Dakotas Tour weekdays at Westward Ho CC in Sioux Falls.

Where To Grub: Beem recommends Theo's (605-338-6801), for "a helluva meal off a big menu."
