A few player reviews I've read rate this course better than the #16 Golf Magazine 2000 Top 100 You Can Play @ Princeville, also located on Kauai. A gorgeous tromp through lava-rock-lined holes.

Golfcourse.com Review: This course features plush fairways and scenic views of the mountains and ocean. The design also includes 86 white sand bunkers , and water hazards that come into play on 11 holes. Home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf held in November.

Best Bar Nearby: Nearby Brennecke's has the feel of an old-time diver/surfer stop and overlooks Poipu Beach. Poipu Beach was rated as the Best Beach in America by The Travel Channel. Brennecke's serves up affordable lunches, so split the Poo Poo platter, and definitely order the house-specialty Mai Tais. OR, the next town up is Old Kona town, featuring some good local history, good shopping, and a divey little joint called Island Teriyaki, which serves up a great Teriyaki chicken & beef plate lunch. OR, for upscale dining, Poipu's The Beach Resaurant is touted as one of the most romantic restaurants in the world, with it's open-air waterfront setting. It's pricey, but what isn't in Hawaii? Food was good but not outstanding. I'd recommend The Poipu Hyatt Regency's Tidepools, way over The Beach Restaurant. The stroll through the world-class open-air Hyatt lobby and grounds is impressive, and Tidepools has a great Oriental open-air architecture, with squared-off rice paper rooms seemingly floating on a pool of colorful Oriental fish. Order the prime rib, one of the best I've ever had. Also heard good things about the Italian restaurant @ The Hyatt. For a good Luau, try Smith's.

Where To Stay: If you're Johnny Liquid or on a once-in-a-lifetime romantic getaway, you owe it to yourself to stay @ Coastline Cottages in Poipu. Unbelievably romantic, classic bungalo architecture and furnishings, and full view of the waves crashing on the rocks 100 feet from your wicker bed with Egyptan cotton sheets. Worth every penny @ $335/night. www.coastlinecottages.com  Second Johnny Liquid choice would be the Hyatt Regency.
