Per Philadelphia Golf Monthly, Buck Hill can trace it's golfing roots back to 1906 when the founders laid out the first course. The Red 9 contains what is left of the original course, short but challenging and in good shape. Donald Ross laid out 18 holes in 1922 (the Blue and White 9s). A shot maker's course with narrow fairways through hilly, wooded terrain. A straight ball helps you reach the strikingly tiny greens, which are domed in the Ross tradition, with enough slope that it's wise to work at keeping the ball below the hole. .

Avg. Golf.com Player Review: 4.1/5.0 "Nice course but kind of boring for the Poconos, excellent staff, in good shape... Typical Ross, severly sloped fairways, elevated greens, very good condition, slowish greens, a little pricey for the area... Very scenic, lots of character, narrow with small greens, some great holes here... Extremely slow pace of play, inconsiderate golfers, nice fairways, choppy greens, too pricey, try Hideaway Hills instead... Ross holes that haven't been tampered with are very good, Blue 9 is entirely intact... One of my favorite courses anywhere, tests every club in the bag, much longer than the yardage is listed."
