Per the website: "Port Arthur News 2010 Reader's Choice Best Golf Course, Best Driving Range, Best Wedding Caterer, Best Bartender.
Once flat rice land, the 140 acre golf course has been reshaped into 18 postcard pretty golf holes. The reconstruction project added numerous lakes, miles of creeks, palm trees and other native and ornamental plants, and rolling hills to create a golf course unlike anything else in the area. The course was also lengthened over 600 yards to create a truly professional championship caliber layout. Five sets of tees have been created to accommodate all levels of skill (unfortunately, we can’t all play like pros).
Course details combine with landscaping, stone ledges and other finishing work so you won’t have to leave the area to play a really good course."
Where To Booze: The Gold Club (www.beaumontgoldclub.com) is a cool mix of classic gentlemen's club and Texas, with plenty of leather roller chairs, cherry wood panels, flagstone, and chandaliers made from antlers.
Where To Grub: For steak, head for Texas chain Salt Grass Steakhouse (www.saltgrass.com). All of their steaks are rubbed in their signature 7-spice rub. Order your favorite cut, topped with sautee'd mushrooms. Even the salads and Shiner Bock bread are awesome. For legit Texas BBQ, hit Willy Ray's (www.willyraysbbq.com, 145 I-10 South) or Tony's BBQ and Steakhouse (www.tonys-bbq.com, 3375 Calder Ave). For Cajun seafood, hit Pappadeaux (4040 I-10 S, www.pappas.com).
