Fat Guy Golf Monthly
This is just a spot to highlight a few pages on the site every month, based on such whims as where I've been playing lately, good seasonal destinations, where the Tour's playing, and other favorites.
August 2011
OK, so it's been a few months since the last issue. I had some serious technical difficulties with my web provider back in the Spring and lost over 50 pages of content. Luckily I had a backup copy, but it took awhile to rebuild. Plus I have 2 kids, a job, and golf season started. So sue me.
Fat Guy's Beaumont TX Golf Weekend- August might not be the best time of year to head for SE Texas for a golf weekend, but by the time you get a weekend planned, booked, and get down there, it'll be pushing October. Beaumont is more Louisiana than Texas, and not a bad little spot for a quick golf weekend on the cheap. I'm just back from an overnight business trip there, so here's the skinny on Beaumont.
Link Of The Month- Well, it happened. ESPN.com's funnyman Bill "Sports Guy" Simmons finally got big enough to command his own website. He's still linked to ESPN, but check out his new venture, Grantland.com. It includes all of Simmon's regular ESPN feature articles and podcasts, some of the best up-and-coming sports writers in the business, as well as movie, music, and pop culture features. Be sure to check out Grantland/ESPN columnist Wright Thompson, a hard-drinkin' Southern-boy SEC football fan who's living the writer's life, and definitely talented enough to be writing novels. Start with his letters from last year's British Open, then move onto his often-moving Grantland stuff.
